here is a cover of the Darrell Banks classic,,,,I'd love to hear some feedback on this one,,,do you like it??,,,hate it??,,,,,have it??

I personally think the vocals are a little weak during the chorus....but I love the organ and the horns

later.

Sorry Chronicret, I couldn't listen to the MP3 - I'll try later, ok.

I read an acticule about the "Open the door to your heart" record. Is this the same guy that actually

wrote the song for Darrell or for another artist? I read where it was miscredited to Darrell?. It also

states there was a earlier version of "Open The Door...." but had a slightly different arrangement.

Is this the record I read about? The version I have is on Revolit, the b-side is entitled

"Our love is in the pocket."

The guy who actually wrote this song was Soul music veteran Donnie Elbert, and this version is definately not him under another name. Of the Darrell Banks versions, the one on the Revilot 45 differs slightly from the track taken from his ATCO debut album Darrell Banks Is Here. It may just be that the album is in Stereo and the 45 is mono because it is difficult to tell the difference.

Hi Aret, The sound clip isnt working for me. Would you mind e-mailing me a clip? I'd love to hear it. pottsy42pottsy at hotmail.com (change 'at' to @).

I wonder if this was released before or after Lee Shot Williams on PM?

Cheers,

Tommy.

Its a while since I played the Album, but I would guess it is a different version. as the flip to the single,

Our love Is In The Pocket

........is a different, and for me , preferable version on the Album.  Still one of my favourite tunes, as is ...

Hey, there's quite a few versions out there, but I agree Jackie's is very nice. There's also The Mob and Lil Murray & the Soul Exciters, and a nice Doni Burdick version and even versions by Na Allen (quite nice) and Chris Farlowe (now, if there was an instrumental of that cut it would be fab). Plus, there's a good Betty Wright version on RCA given the modern upbeat routine.

I still prefer my Stateside issue of Darrell's version. HTH
