Figured I'd kick off some chat, so whats your fave blue eyed tracks?  Lots of good stuff

from the Pennsylvania and The Carolinas, etc. have found there way into our boxes.

Some of my faves:

The Temptones-Girl I Love You ARCTIC (pre-Hall & Oates!)

Jimmy Seals-Yesterday Of Our Love CHALLENGE (another destined for soft rock greatness!)

The Eruptions-Price Of Love VAL (reviewed this for Hitsville site)

Huns Review-Don't Make Me Love You SORRO (not 100%, but I'd bet money!)

The Vondells-Hey Girl AIR TOWN (one of the best)

The Magnificent Men-I've Got News & Forever Together CAPITOL

Discuss!

-Mike

Paul Anka--"Can't Help Loving You" (oddly enough, I consider Anka one of my 'guilty pleasures' musically, so hearing him do blue-eyed soul is interesting!)

Magnificent Men--anything by them

Gary Sole--"Holding On"

Johnny Vanelli--"Seven Days of Loving You" (I know, it sounds more like Frankie Avalon than soul, but I kinda like it)

Bobby Bloom--"Love Don't Let Me Down"

Billy Harner--"Sally Sayin' Somethin'" and "I Struck It Rich"

Len Barry--"Come Rain or Come Shine" (interesting stomper version of the old standard, from his RCA period)

Joey Heatherton--"When You Call Me Baby"

Dusty Springfield--lotsa stuff! LOL!!!

Susan Barrett--"She Gets Everything She Wants" (femme version of Carl Hall's tune)

Come back with more later...

Best,

Mark

Here's a few more for the list-

1) Rita and the Tiaras- "Gone With The Wind Is My Love"

2) P.J. - "T.L.C." ( a bit on the Poppy side, would've been perfect for Diana Ross)

3) Shades Of Blue - "Oh How Happy"

4) Stemmons Express- "Woman Love Thief" ( "Such Misery" is much better imho!)

5) Bobby Paris - "Night Owl"

6) Charades- "Key To My Happiness"

7) Johnny Daye- "Good Time"

8) Jades- "I'm Where It's At"  (it's that intro! )

9) Four Seasons- "I'm Gonna Change"  ( slightly better than the Velours)

10) Timi Yuro- "It'll Never Be Over For Me"

11) Connie Clarke- "My Sugar Baby"

12) Chris Clark- "Something's Wrong"

13) Lost Soul- "Secret Of Mine"

14) Bill Bush- "I'm Waiting"

15) Johnny Caswell- "You Don't Love Me Anymore"

16) Evie Sands- "Picture Me Gone"

It's favourite here too Jas ! Careful, the soul police have your name now too. Prejudice runs deep in the Northern Soul world...

A handful from me -

Every Breath I Take - Gene Pitney and The Halos - Fabulous early stuff , doo wop group back ups from the Halos & Gene sounds like Clyde McPhatter, Dee Clark, Bobby Sheen, Billy Storm..take your pick ! Roddie Joy did the song too.

1-2-3 - Len Barry - If it was unknown it would be the best record Motown never released. !
The Night - Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons - Atmosphere all the way.

I-O-U - Johnny Caswell. A classic case of 'try the flipside !'

I'm In Trouble - Wayne Cochran. Great !

I'd Best Be Going - Vito & The Salutations. Great !

I'm Moving Uptown - Paul Peek . One of Gene Vincent's Blue Caps and a man who recorded with Esquerita..thats good enough for me.

True Lovers - The Four Chaps. I'm assuming here...

Don't Just Look At Me - Chris Farlowe. Great UK stuff !

Hoo Doo Man - Rick Lancelot. R&B madness !

Here Comes Loneliness - The Teardrops. Full on Girl Group stomp.

Dangerous Town - Lorna Doone - More full on girlie stuff.

(I Lost My Love In The) Big City - The Daniels. Street corner - Blue eyed Soul ?

The Wrong Side Of Town - The Four Vandals. Up there with the best !
