Had a few bits over last few weeks. Nothing outrageously rare/expensive but a few I've been after for a while:

Dee Irwin - I Only Get This Feeling - Red Coach W/DEMO (Nice local release prior to Imperial)
Leon Hayward - It's Got To Be Mellow - Evejim (Nice local release prior to Decca)
Manhattans - Betcha Couldn't Love Me - Carnival W/DEMO (Nice Demo that has eluded me before now)
Mary Wells - Fancy Free - Atco W/DEMO (Fantastic Golden World Recording that's up there with anything she ever did)

Anyone else had any results?

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave

Hope all is well. Was in Toronto last week and came home with Shirley Ellis - Soul Time on Canadian Columbia which was a surprise, amongst a few other cheapies - Billy Butler - Ill Bet You, Unlimited Four on Chanson, The Attractions - Destination You - Bell - these are from my new favourite shop - Cosmos West on Queen, he has 1000's in the basement but I think I have just about done him now.

Not sure if this site is Canadian only but it is called kijiji, basically buy or sell on there for free, I think it is similar to Craig's List. Answered an ad for 4000 45's and made the 40 minute journey and as expected it was a load of the usual crap, went through them all for 10 records for $1 each - BUT - among the 10 was Little Charles - Its A Heartache - Canadian Decca!!

Also picked up Theresa Lindsey - Good idea on Correctone from a local Flea Market but that cost me $5!

I kick SOOO much ***....

Scored a big pile of 45s mostly white demos from the 60s-all types of music, but some northern goodies were in there-photo is attahced. Bear in mind there were 40 records in the pile and I got them for 50 cents a throw. Shame bout the water damage though...

Other records I've picked up cheaply as of late include:

1. Marboo-What About Love-Midsong Int'l
2. Vessie Simmons on Simco
3. Robert Ward on Groove City-Both sides SOLID Detroit soul
4. Buddy and Stacey on Twirl
5. Bernadette Castro on Colpix
6. Jimmy Jones-Ain't Nothin Wrong with Making Love-Conchillo-WICKED crossover I bought just for Spain!
7. A Chance at Love-Universal Mind-Charles-a big want of mine for years!
8. Girls it Ain't Easy-The Honey Cone-Hot Wax-Saw MI VIDA LOCA and had to get it!

but the best finds are in the photo...mostly cheapies, but a few nice ones in there...

-Jas (got a couple more on eBay I'm watching for...)

PS. Dave, I've been after "Fancy Free" for YEARS! That's a killer!

Here's a pic of the Evejim copy of Leon Hayward (Cheers Tommy).
Anyone know anything about the label? Sounds like it could be the amalgamation of a married couples names?
Jim-Edd music? Jim who?

In case Bev reads this......I'd rather have some new record sleeves or a Frank Wilson Fridge magnet!

Mainly cheapies for me last few weeks but did manage to score, off another site, The Exits and Brothers Of Soul - Id be Grateful - Boo for $10 each. Both of them met with poo poo's from the "Northern died when Wigan closed" section of the house. I had to then play her Brenda Holloway and Rufus Lumley - Stronger Than Me to shut her up!!

Also got Jessica James on Dyno Voice and JJ Barnes - Real Hundinger - Canadian Reo for $5 each at the Niagara Show.

By the way, does any have, or can they get, a copy of Magic Carpet Ride - Kiki Dee. I would love to get her a copy. Did this ever get pressed?
